The date in Roman figures in the obverse legend makes this the first dated English gold coin.

'Fine' Sovereign of 30 Shillings, 1553, privy mark pomegranate on both sides, Queen enthroned, portcullis at feet, date in Roman numerals at end of legend, rev. Royal shield on Tudor rose, 14.47g (N.1956, S.2488)

Three marks to right of Queen's feet, toned, very fine and very rare.
