There are two examples of the 1553 halfcrown that are considered to be the joint finest known, one was sold by this company and can be viewed on the ‘Recently Sold’ section of the website.
The 1553 die produced quite a crude depiction of Edward on horseback with little relief compared to the halfcrowns of 1551 and 1552, the issue therefore appears to look more worn than it is. The example that is currently for sale is one of the finer 1553 halfcrowns that can be acquired after the Lockett and Carter coins and is an essential addition to any accomplished collection of halfcrowns.
