Henry II, Penny, 1158-80Newcastle is the only mint with a name beginning with N which is recorded by Allen (D.F. Allen, A catalogue of English coins in the British Museum, The Cross-and-crosslets (Tealby) type of Henry II, London, 1951) with the moneyer Willem. The following letter looks rather like an O, which is possible for Newcastle (Novicastrum), but is better known for Northampton and Norwich. Certainly this coin is from different dies from the only coin in Allen with this reading under Newcastle.
